The University of Texas took 4th place with a combined 2 day total of 29.62 lbs!  The lake was up about 5 ft and muddy as chocolate milk.  The fishing was very tough, but the guys managed to catch enough fish to take 4th.  After the first day, the team stood in 3rd place at the Heartland Regional.  After a tough second day they fell to 4th.  Most fish were caught on jigs or texas rigged brush hogs flipping brush.

First Day: 

Ty Brockhoeft and Bobby Frey                5 fish-11.39 lbs

Billy Waldschmidt and Chris Allen            4 fish- 9.32 lbs

Second Day:

Caught this one in practice...one day to early

3rd place Trophy

Fishing was great on LT from 1pm to 8pm!  Ty, Trey, and Billy took first place with 11 lbs. 11 oz.  It was a close second with Bobby and Chris coming in at 11 lbs. 9 oz.  Third was Brad and John with 11 lbs even.  The two other teams had smaller limits, but every team culled at least one time which was awesome. Most fish were caught on shakey head, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits in 2-12ft of water. Biggest fish wieghed in at 3lbs even.  A fun day on the water with probably over 120 total fish caught between the 5 teams.

Ty and Bobby earned 10th place in the Lone Star Collegiate Spring Breakout tournament fishing against 29 other teams from around the country.  They fished crankbaits and shaky head worms in 2-4 feet of water to catch a five fish limit of 10.32 lbs.

Bobby and Ty

John, Micah, and Drew tore it up and got first in the tournament with around 13lbs.  They culled something like 7 times, Great job guys!  Billy and Mason also ripped lips with a solid limit over 10 lbs.  The only thing that seemed to work was finess baits on rocky banks (the only thing I didn't try).  Overall, it was a good day to be on the lake.

Fishing was tough in the 30 degree weather.  The UT team had no prefishing time which hampered our performance.  We finally caught onto a pattern when the tournament was just about over.  Ty did catch a 30 pound striper on a shakey head (pictures soon). Stephen F. Austin won the tournament with a two day total over 20 pounds.

The tournament was a lot of fun, and beautiful weather, but slow fishing.  Most fish were caught on drop shots, cranks, grubs, and tx rigged worms in 10-30 feet of water.  Ty Brockhoeft and Billy Waldschmidt came in at the top with 2 fish for 4 pounds even.
